Plants are more than their main organs. They also show particular arrangements and structures, each with its own vocabulary — useful to observe and describe them accurately.

Stipules
Small appendages at the base of the petiole.
Latex
Milky sap released when cut.
Resin
Sticky, often aromatic secretion.
Spines, thorns and prickles
Defensive structures of different origins.
Tendrils
Gripping organs of climbing plants.
Hairs (trichomes)
Surface covering: down, bristles, scales.
Bulbs, rhizomes and tubers
Underground storage organs.
Bark
Outer covering of stems and trunks.
